Cashmere is a type of wool fabric made from the wool of Himalayan cashmere goats. The fabric’s name—cashmere wool—comes from this origin. Cashmere is a natural fiber known for its extremely soft feel and excellent insulation. The fibers are very fine and feel almost like silk fabric to the touch. Cashmere is significantly warmer and lighter than sheep’s wool. It is often made from a wool blend and mixed with other types of wool, such as merino, to add weight, as its fibers are very fine and thin.

Cashmere blends are types of wool fabric made from the undercoat or down of Himalayan cashmere goats. They may contain a small amount of viscose or cotton blend but retain all the cashmere qualities of warmth, softness, and lightness. This technology is often used to reduce costs while preserving the best material properties.

Wool for clothing and scarves made from natural wool has excellent thermoregulation properties: wool products provide especially pleasant warmth, can absorb a lot of moisture, and quickly release it. Unlike synthetic fibers, wool is neutral to dirt and hardly absorbs odors. Thanks to its natural self-cleaning ability, after a short airing in fresh air, it smells neutral and fresh again.

Blends of various fibers: wool with silk, or cashmere with silk are used to combine the best properties of both materials in clothing or scarves. Wool or cashmere is a natural, warming material, while silk provides warmth and natural thermoregulation. Wool and silk blends or cashmere and silk blends are mainly used in the cold season or transitional seasons when weather conditions are variable.

Types of silk fabrics

Silk twill weave is a durable fabric characterized by a diagonal weave pattern. The fabric creates a fine texture and a matte finish, making it a perfect choice for a scarf intended for everyday wear.

Silk twill scarves are versatile and can be worn in various ways, including draped over the shoulders, tied around the neck, or wrapped around the head as a headscarf. The texture of the twill fabric helps keep the scarf in place, making it easier to wear and style, especially if you want to tie turbans or wear the scarf over the shoulders. Additionally, the silk twill weave is a durable fabric that resists wrinkling well, making it a good choice for a scarf that will be worn frequently—every day.

Silk satin is a lightweight fabric characterized by a smooth and shiny surface. The fabric has a luxurious sheen and silky texture, making it an elegant choice for a scarf intended for special occasions. Satin scarves have a smooth surface that drapes well and creates a "flowing water" effect, which is perfect for evening wear. The shiny satin surface adds charm to any outfit and makes it an attractive accessory. However, satin is a delicate fabric that requires special care, such as hand washing or dry cleaning.

Silk chiffon is a lightweight, airy, and transparent or semi-transparent fabric characterized by a smooth and soft surface. The fabric can be either matte or shiny with a silky texture, making it an elegant choice for a scarf intended for special occasions.

Silk crepe is a lightweight fabric characterized by lightness but with a matte, slightly textured surface. Silk crepe has no shine, is not slippery, and is perfect for tying in various ways as well as wearing on the head as a headband or turban.

Raw silk, or silk noil, is a lightweight fabric characterized by a textured and shiny surface or a matte and textured surface. This type of silk is made from silk leftovers. The fabric is most often handwoven and used to make scarves and saris.
